Fall is nature’s perfect transition

POSTED: 09-19-2014 IN: Your Weekly Weapon With David Farbman

Fall. Crisp mornings, bright sunshine. As the leaves start to change and I feel that drop in temperature, my blood warms for hunting season. I am fired up for this season and all it offers.   I’ve been watching the deer up north and planning out my hunts, just waiting for the days to pass until my bow is in my hand again. When I was a kid, fall was always a fresh start, a new school year, time to reconnect with friends I hadn’t seen during the summer. As a hunter, fall is the time to start to plan, get my gear together and hit the woods, revisiting my favorite spots and discovering new paths to follow. As an entrepreneur, it’s the time when things start to heat up despite the temperatures going down.   Fall brings a new focus to achieving goals and taking down targets – no matter what you are hunting.

This early season is the perfect time to start constructing the strategy for your hunt. Start planning and applying all the things you learned off-season so you can leverage those key facts and data into taking down a target.

  • Want a stronger relationship? Change it up! Take one of your favorite summer memories into fall – recreate a great meal using seasonal ingredients, share that newly discovered bottle of wine by a crackling fire.
  • Want to move a business deal forward? Get curious about the person on the other side of that table. Genuinely listen and watch for the cues that help make target clear. Figure out how to bring your desired outcomes inches closer rather than miles apart.
  • Want to be more authentic? Ditch the camouflage and BE WHO YOU ARE. Own your true self and make it an asset, rather than a liability.

Fall is nature’s perfect transition. The trees and colors change and give us a beauty of death that is hard to resist. Who is not swayed by the glory of a maple wrapped in red and gold? Whatever fall means to you, go out and embrace it. Cider mills, color tours, birds in flight, the cold mist rolling off the lake in the morning – use nature as your inspiration to go out and take your targets.
